Join Any Given Child Shenandoah Valley Artist In Residence, Barefoot Puppet Theater, as they present their show, Galapagos George, for our community. Any Given Child has partnered with Court Square Theater to ensure that EVERY 2nd Grade student in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County will visit Court Square Theater during the week of October 27 to see this show. You can bring your favorite young artist to enjoy the program too! The show will run 50 minutes with a meet and greet with the artists from the stage after the show.

Based on the true story of “Lonesome George,” this show tells the tale of a truly one-on-a-kind tortoise from the Galapagos Islands. Who is George? He is a tortoise, a GIANT GALAPAGOS TORTOISE! Watch George grow up among sea turtles, lizards, hungry goats, sea lions, and dancing birds with blue feet. As you visit his island, you hear the true story of the last tortoise to be found on Pinta Island in the Galapagos archipelago. Fall in love with these islands…and this not-so-little tortoise!

Described by The Smithsonian as “an uplifting eco-fable,” this engaging theatrical piece shares an important lesson about man’s impact upon the environment. This show was funded in part by a grant from the Puppeteers of America Endowment Fund and was awarded an UNIMA Citation of Excellence in 2005.

Puppet Styles: Hand, Rod, and Shadow
