Special Note for These Showings

Kemp Powers credits his freshman English teacher at Howard University with encouraging his career. That teacher is Heather Banks, now living in Harrisonburg. She will attend both showings. Before the film, she will answer a few questions from theater manager Justin Reiter. Afterward, she will stay to discuss the film and Kemp’s career, including a memoir, The Shooting; appearances on NPR’s The Moth Radio Hour; and awards for co-directing the Pixar animated movie Soul.
